Odie

Odie was my sister’s beloved dog. A Rhodesian Ridgeback who adored my sister and was a real character. She found Odie running wild in her local woods and adopted him and loved him beyond words. She was devasted when at the ripe old age of 12/13 he crossed the rainbow bridge and left a big … More Odie

Minty

Minty – wow what an expression! Minty short for Mintaka after a star in Orion…sadly no longer with us. The ntense blackfur was a challenge but the real star is that look in her eyes!

Shumi

This is the magnificent Shumi that I was commissioned to draw for a surprise birthday present. An adorable and characterful cat who is actually a beautiful chocolate brown in real life. Territorial about her cat nip plants – a cat not to be messed with!

Billie

Sadly Billie crossed the rainbow bridge a few weeks ago. My sons commissioned me to draw her for their step-Mum’s birthday. She was a rescue dog & my son’s father and his wife provided her with a happy and loving home, where she grew in confidence and her character came shining through.  She will certainly … More Billie

Paige

I try to support my local community where I can. I often donate a voucher for a portrait to local school PTA fairs. The winner this year was the very pretty Paige. Children are a challenge to draw as they have no wrinkles or strong defined lines! I hope I have done her justice – … More Paige

Tara

Whenever I am asked to draw animals that sadly are no longer with us I always feel that capturing their character as well as a good likeness is doubly important. Tara was a beautiful gentle dog ; I had to work from a very small photograph as that was the only one my client had … More Tara

Esme & Aero

A good friend of mine, Greg McKenzie, is a superb photographer (www.urbanfilms.co). I was so taken by a photo he had taken of one of his daughter’s sitting with their dog that I just had to draw them! When I showed the finished drawing to him he instantly wanted to buy it as a gift … More Esme & Aero

Wedding Gift

This commission was a wedding gift to my god-daughter and her husband. Transferring from colour to black & white is always a challenge, particularly with a lot of white in the photograph. I muted the harsh shadows and used some poetic licence with the intricate lace pattern on the dress.

The Chief

Eleven years ago after a long break of not really drawing very much due to family and other work commitments, I was asked to draw a portrait by my now Mother-in-Law, as an 80th birthday present to give to her husband. (Now my father-in-Law!) I was somewhat nervous of getting it right as I knew the … More The Chief

Dozer & Neo

For the Matrix fans among you – Dozer & Neo; two stunning cats with incredible markings and characterful expressions! They were commissioned as a wedding present so I have had to wait until after the wedding to publish so as not to ruin the surprise. Cats eyes are so beautiful and very satisfying to draw – … More Dozer & Neo
